Next Gen Connect is a young professionals group in Echuca/Moama focusing on social networking, connection and education. There is various young professionals’ groups based across regional Victoria that bring individuals from various careers and backgrounds together. The Chair of Next Gen Connect, Jaiden D’Angelo is also the Senior Marketing and Communications Coordinator of the Department of Rural Health, University of Melbourne and understands the importance of connection for medical students and professionals.
Q. Can I be a university student and still join a young professional’s group?
A. Absolutely! Next Gen Connect is an inclusive group that recognises the term ‘young professional’ extends beyond traditional employment. We welcome tertiary students to attend our events and be part of our growing community.
Q. What kind of events do Next Gen Connect host?
A. Next Gen Connect offers a range of events to the Echuca/Moama community, with a focus on fostering connection, inclusion, and meaningful relationships. Our planned events includes both social gatherings and professional development opportunities, such as mentorship initiatives, guest speaker sessions, and practical workshops.
Q. Why is community connection so important?
A. Community connection is vital in rural and regional areas. At Next Gen Connect, we often see individuals relocating to the Echuca/Moama region for employment opportunities. Our role is to support that transition by creating opportunities for genuine connection in the region. By helping people create strong foundations in a place they can call home, we contribute to retention and long term community sustainability, particularly for professionals such as medical interns who are new to the area.
Q. Can I attend a young professional event by myself?
A. Absolutely! We welcome attendees whether they come on their own or with a group. In fact, many people attend Next Gen Connect events solo, and our events are designed to make that experience comfortable and rewarding. Our events provide opportunities to network, share experiences, and build meaningful connections. If you're feeling a little nervous about attending alone, our committee members are around to welcome you and help you feel at ease, we know it can be a big step to come alone!
